Marley Firth is an exciting 6 year old prospect who was a very impressive winner of a competitive Point to Point in Ireland.

His sire Flemensfirth, who was a Group 1 winner at Longchamp on the flat, is one of NH’s very best sires, siring the likes of Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Commander, Lexus Chase winner Tidal Bay and the 2016 Grand National runner up The Last Samurai. He is closely related to the 164 rated Foxrock, and if he emulates his older half brother we will all be very happy.

Dan Skelton is one of the leading NH trainers in the UK and is tipped by many in the business to be a future Champion NH Trainer. He is based at Lodge Hill, which provides state of the art training facilities in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside and comes from a family steeped in equine sporting history. His father Nick is a double Olympic Gold Medalist in showjumping, having triumphed at London in 2012 and Rio in 2016.

Dan describes Marley Firth as “a proper racehorse who has all the attributes of a natural chaser”. However, as still only a 5 year old, the initial focus will be over hurdles on soft ground as we look to develop his undoubted potential.

Marley Firth made his debut at Chepstow in November 2017, winning very impressively in a novice hurdle and then following on with 4th place in the Grade 2 Winter Hurdle at Sandown early December.  He has been hit with breathing problems though and has now finished this season, he will have a breathing op and resume in the Autumn of 2018 to begin his chasing career. Bigger and better things await!
