Marley Firth is an exciting 7 year old prospect who was a very impressive winner of a competitive Point to Point in Ireland, and was in training with Dan Skelton.

His sire Flemensfirth, who was a Group 1 winner at Longchamp on the flat, is one of NH’s very best sires, siring the likes of Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Commander, Lexus Chase winner Tidal Bay and the 2016 Grand National runner up The Last Samurai. He is closely related to the 164 rated Foxrock, and if he emulates his older half brother we will all be very happy.

Dan describes Marley Firth as “a proper racehorse who has all the attributes of a natural chaser”.

Marley Firth made his debut at Chepstow in November 2017, winning very impressively in a novice hurdle and then following on with 4th place in the Grade 2 Winter Hurdle at Sandown early December 2017.  He has been hit with breathing problems though but has had a breathing op and resumed in  November over the higher fences.

Marley didn’t quite fire on the track so we’ve moved him to Jackie du Plessis, who trains in Cornwall, where a different environment has brought a change, he seems a lot happier and has shown improved performances including a close second in his last hurdle run at Chepstow in January 2020. Marley will now try his hand at Novice Handicap Chases where we feel his future lies and we are confident of a few wins in the 20/21 season !
