Potters Approach made his debut over hurdles at a damp but welcoming Plumpton and his third place provided plenty of positives. We went into the race with realistic expectations, as he was up against a couple of very classy and more experienced horses, who already had wins under their belts.

Despite knowing it would be a tough race we thought we’d take the race to the two favourites and put them under pressure. Harry Skelton gave Potters an excellent ride and without anyone else prepared to set the pace was really positive, as again we attempted a pillar to post victory.

Potters jumped well and really stretched the field down the back straight. As they approached the final bend there were only three left in it but the hot favourite ‘No Comment’ was a deserved winner and will go on to bigger and better things. However, Potters was far from disgraced and ‘At The Races’ bracketed the three horses together as ‘three nice horses’.

Harry Skelton said the horse took the race in his stride and his feedback was that we should have a very enjoyable and successful season with him over hurdles but that he feels like a¬†natural chaser. Harry confirmed that Potters would welcome further and also pointed out that because the horse has such a good action, he probably wouldn’t want the going too soft. We are certainly looking forward to his next race early in the New Year and we are confident we will be winning races with him shortly.

The owners present all enjoyed the afternoon. It was great to watch Potters take to hurdles and we even had the added bonus of some prize money!
