We had a great day at Team Skelton’s last Sunday as Dan introduced his horses that he will go to battle with this coming season. It’s amazing to think how far Dan and the team have come over the past 6 years. It’s always good to visit the team which haven’t changed too much over the past 6 years, and see the facilities, which have changed loads ! Last years stats were the best ever with 156 winners from 801 runners, a 19% win-runs strike rate (nearly as good as Surrey Racing !!)  and prize money of £1.74m with plenty of Graded winners, but can this coming season see the first Grade 1 winner, maybe one of out three ?

20 Surrey Racing owners were in attendance, they enjoyed the parade of horses, and an extremely well prepared Sunday buffet complete with liquid refreshments ! Our string (who have all won on the racecourse) all looked superb and Dan commentated on them …

Anytime Will Do – looking very sharp and fit, which is his natural outlook, could win a bumper again but Dan doesn’t want him to think he’s a flat horse so he will start in a 2 mile novice hurdle and we will take it from there. He probably won’t want the ground too soft, but for sure he will win more novice hurdles than he will lose, and very confident on his first appearance in the new season.

Marley Firth – lost his way last year and Dan wasn’t too sure why, maybe too much in his first two runs left the tank empty. Dan was shocked he didn’t go on but thinks the wind op will solve a few issues and we will see a big improvement. He will go chasing in October, and we can’t wait to see the real Marley in action
next season.

Potters Approach – very laid back, probably the most untypical Scorpion you could find! Has been jumping well in training so will go straight to chasing and  aims to run 3rd week of September as long as the ground is softer. However, he won’t want the ground too soft so the feeling was that he would have a split season, running in Autumn and Spring.
