14th June Update

Unfortunately, we don’t have any Royal Ascot runners this year, but you can still take part in Nicky’s tipping competition – only £20 an entry, seamlessly organised with instant leader board updates. If you want to test your skills against a load of Surrey Racing owners (past and present) as well as friends and family, then ping Nicky an email hassle04@icloud.com. No restrictions, the more the merrier.

We have been lucky enough to have had runners at Royal Ascot, Surrey Hope was 15th, beaten 9 lengths in the Royal Hunt Cup, Surrey Gold was favourite for the King George V stakes before stepping on a stone the day before, he did appear the following year but was pulled up with a heart murmur in the Ascot Stakes, his last ever race. Surrey Mist had our best run, finishing 7th in the King George V stakes, but only 2.5 lengths from winner. The lowest rating that got into the races was Surrey Gold off 87 so that’s the level to get to, although hopefully next year, we’ll have a couple of runners there,

We are still a few weeks away from our next runner. Surrey King is back walking, and the plan is for him to return to the gallop’s midweek, as we mentioned before, it’s doubtful he’ll run this month but all being well, we should see him early July.  Surrey Moon is back working, doing easy canters. He seems fine, although he has grown again, hopefully we’ll get a smooth run and a date for his debut in the not-too-distant future. Surrey Etoile is now on the walker for 40 minutes a day and then he has 3-4 hours in the paddocks enjoying his bigger area after being cooped up for several months. He will have some gentle lunge work at the end of the week as his exercise is stepped up. Surrey Bolt is now doing two easy canters on the Warren Hill gallops and seems to be finding those easy. That will carry on for 2-3 weeks and if he continues to work well then some fast work will be added to his training programme.

Both Hillsyde Hope and Surrey Lord are enjoying their summer, although time flies and they probably only have 6 more weeks before they come back in to training and a slow build up for the season openers in October. ‍‍ ‍

Enjoy the week ahead
