Our weekly round up of Surrey Racing news and views on the wider racing world
3rd May Update
Surrey King was disappointing in his seasonal reappearance today at Salisbury - he’s so much better than what he showed. Surrey Lord could be at Haydock on Saturday…..
April 29th Update
The firm ground meant our two expected runners last weekend didn’t make the start line. Surrey King tries again on Sunday at Salisbury, hopefully some rain arrives before then!
April 21st Update
It could be a super Saturday as two of our horses are back in action after some time off. Surrey King takes on some high cost purchases at Leicester while Surrey Lord takes part in the NH finale at Sandown, good luck to all involved.
April 12th Update
It’s great to welcome new owners and a new horse and we celebrated both this week after buying Hillsyde Hope following an impressive point to point in Ireland. He joins Toby Lawes and will make his rules debut later this year.
Happy Easter
Discussions with the BHA have been the theme of the week, another mad rule is in place that does nothing to support owners.
Stay tuned for a potential new horse joining the stable ….
29th March Update
Reasons to be cheerful - The clocks springing forward a day after the Lincoln .. full steam ahead for the summer and the flat season although we aren’t finished with the NH just set with Surrey Lord who surely has one more win in him this season.
Welcome to Spring
A lovely visit to see Surrey King on Saturday - Group 1 entry still stands … we can’t wait to see him make his seasonal appearance.
Mother’s Day Update
Surrey Quest enters a new chapter in his life as he is now in retirement following a wonderful career that has given us a lot of memories. He retires happy and content and is already in the paddock with his slippers on!
Cheltenham Week update
No runners at the festival for us this year but plenty happening as we gear up towards the end of the NH season and look forward to the turf season on the flat.
1st March Update
No runners this week but a busy few months ahead with Surrey Lord and Surrey Quest back racing, and next month we’ll have two classy three years in action.
February 22nd Update
We are looking ahead to a change in the weather to see Surrey Lord and Surrey Quest back in action, hopefully Kempton in March, a happy hunting ground for Surrey Lord.
February 15th Update
Rain, rain and more rain thwart the plans for the next races for Surrey Quest and Surrey Lord - it will stop at some point!
February 1st Update
A quiet week with more of the same next week. Injuries are the main concern, as well as the increasing cost of racehorse ownership in England.
25th January Update
Plenty of rain soaked ground around so no runners until the ground firms.
The soft ground didn’t help Surrey Quest who suffered with a wind issue in the Surrey National despite really enjoying a great round of jumping. .
18th January Update
A very credible run from Surrey Lord at Ascot’s Clarence House meeting yesterday, he’ll be winning again before the season is over! Tomorrow Surrey Quest runs in the Surrey National at Lingfield.
11th January Update
Another injury soured last week but thankfully Surrey Etoile was saved and had a successful operation to repair a fractured pastern. We wish him well. The always improving Surrey Lord could be back (on ITV) at the weekend having won 3 of his last 4 outings.
Happy New Year !
A solid but not spectacular 2026 for Surrey Racing, with as many ups as downs, we review the year in the newsletter.
A Winning End to 2025 !
Surrey Lord put in his best ever performance to give us a Boxing Day to remember at Kempton Park, a super way to end the year in style.
R.I.P. Sea Presenting
A very sad day at Lingfield today as the very talented Sea Presenting didn’t return home to Henfold House.
December 14th Update
A break from Christmas shopping to see Sea Presenting this week, either at Ludlow or the favoured, and more hospitable, Lingfield Park. She’s due a win having not been out of the top three in all her races.
