In horse news, it’s what we are here for, Surrey King had a minor setback to his good knee last week although subsequent x-rays on both knees were fine so that’s good news re the injured knee. He’ll benefit from 2 more weeks on the walker before he has a saddle back on towards the end of the month. He may or may not make it back for the end of the turf season but hopefully he has a few races before the end of the year.

You may recall that Tom wasn’t quite sure what was wrong with Surrey Moon but felt that maybe he had a problem with his front legs. However, when he arrived, Jackie thought he wasn’t quite right behind and felt it could be a foot soreness. She’s had the farrier change a few things and after those changes, he has reported that Moon had at least three different abscesses, but Jackie still feels that as he is still not quite right. Her vet is away on holiday but back this coming week will conduct further tests. Incidentally his front legs seem fine, Jackie doesn’t think there is a problem with those. Moon has settled in well; he’s an easy horse but Jackie remarked he is backward in everything he does, it would seem we still have an immaturity issue. Thankfully, we don’t think we are dealing with an obvious catastrophic injury.

Surrey Etoile has one more infiltration to come which will be at the end of this week, that completes the set and then he’ll start light exercise and we can see whether the treatment has helped while Surrey Bolt is building up to hopefully a debut in September although Tom would like some rain to get him on the grass gallops.

Surrey Lord’s nasty cut is healing but still sore so he can’t have a saddle put on just yet, but the plan is to get him back out on the gallops this week. Hillsyde Hope has been looking a little weak behind, so the chiropractor has been working on him this past week and it seems to have the desired effect as it looks like he has put on some muscle and working nicely. It’s still very early days as he’s only doing steady work but that will increase as we head forward to a debut in October.

Have a super week ahead
