A week off from the newsletter last week as there wasn’t too much to report. As we move into November, we are closer to the at least one or two horses looking to make their reappearance back on the track.
Surrey Lord should be the next to run, he’s showing good form on the gallops and finding his work very easy. There is a conditional jockey’s handicap (0-130) hurdle race over 2.5 miles at 12.40pm next Sunday at Sandown that he may have an entry for (entries tomorrow). Kempton’s card on Monday 9th is likely to be called off as the ground is too firm, and so if he didn’t go to Sandown then the possibilities are at Cheltenham’s November meeting.
Stablemate Hillsyde Hope is strengthening and seemingly growing, the team are very happy with him. His half-brother, North of Richmond, won for Alex Hales at Newcastle last Tuesday which is a good sign. He’ll continue to gallop, jump barrels, and slowly get strong enough for a debut next month.
Surrey Moon is now back cantering and seems to be heading in the right direction, although Jackie continually remarks that he still has some developing to do. He’ll stay with Jackie until the end of November and, if all going well, we’ll move him to training (no decision made yet) with a view to racing in the new year. Surrey King continues the slow build up to what we hope will be an appearance on the track later this month. Tom has remarked on how great Surrey Bolt is looking. Bolt is spending an hour on the walker each day so at least he’s not confined to his box and that will continue for a few weeks. He’ll be gelded later this month and then have some time turned out into the paddock.
Have a super week ahead and good luck to Surrey Lord and connections if he runs next Sunday.
