We are delighted to have purchased a horse to be trained and race in France. Surrey Etoile was bought at Arqana’s premier yearling sale with the help of trainer Tim Donworth.

Surrey Etoile is a horse by the legendary Seas The Stars’ son, Sea The Moon, who stands for £32,500 at Lanwades Stud. He was a 1 mile winner at 2, but really excelled at 3 winning the Group 1 Deutsche Derby. He is from an excellent family and already has sired multiple stakes winners including German Oaks winner Muskoka, German Derby winner Fantastic Moon, Caulfield Cup winner Durston and Coronation Stakes winner Alpine Star.
Surrey Etoile is the first foal from The Lady, who was unraced, but from a Listed placed dam Tanamia, who also has a Sea The Moon offspring, in Listed placed Tansania. Further back it’s interesting to note that within the staying pedigrees there are two horses who won and were placed in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes, a two year old fillies races over 6 furlongs, which could provide an injection of pace into the breeding.  
As you can see from the photo, he is a strapping lad, who should develop into a tough staying horse.

Unfortunately, in January ‘26 Surrey Etoile suffered a broken leg on the gallops. He has had surgery and is recovering well at a far in Normandy and has every chance of making it on to the racecourse later in the year.
