February 1st Update

A short update this week with not a great deal to report on.

Surrey Quest was dropped 3 pounds by the handicapper to a new chase make of 128 (and a hurdle of 123). Both Quest and Surrey Lord are waiting for better ground before we plan for them to run again.

Hughie has reported that Surrey King seems to have grown up – we’ll get a date for an owners visit in March. Surrey Moon is also well and about to have his work stepped up. Surrey Bolt has left the yard to a local stud farm to get away from the hustle and bustle of the noisy training yard for a few weeks while he recuperates. Surrey Etoile is in good spirits but still in his cast, that may be on for another week or so before that’s reduced to a simple stable bandage.

The Surrey Racing AGM was last week, and several agenda items were discussed. We have yet to sell out of the flat horses, but, as mentioned last week, we feel we may have enough interest for another NH horse. We will discuss with Toby and reach out to see who may wish to be involved so look out for that email in the coming weeks. However, the main topic for discussion was the ever-increasing costs and how we manage those, that conversation will continue!

Possible races and events.
