Surrey Pride storms home at Chester

Surrey Pride came from last to first under a cracking ride from Richard Kingscote to win the class 4 GoRacingGreen Handicap over 1 mile and 2 furlongs around Chester’s tight bends.

We asked Richard to ride for us based on his record at Chester, which is a track well known for hard luck stories – no such worries for us! The early pace was quick which enabled Pride to switch off in last place until the home turn when with another impressive turn of foot he powered past every rival to win going away.

He’s still a horse very much on the up and we now have to wait and see what the handicapper thinks of the performance, he’s certainly going to rise a few pounds from his current 85 rating.

It was our first ever visit to Chester, it certainly won’t be the last. It is one of the very best tracks in the country for looking after the owners, we had a great day and a great evening! We have the Rowley Cup in Newmarket as the next target for Pride and then possibly a Group race in France at the end of the season.
