Impressive win for Gran Luna

What a debut at Newbury from Gran Luna! Nicky Henderson and the team had her in superb condition and she really did look the pick of the parade ring beforehand. Racing TV commented that she was the best looking horse by some distance but looks don’t count for everything!

Gran Luna was very green, spooked by a passing train and didn’t really settle in the race under the careful guidance of Nico de Boinville. However as the race progressed Nico eased her through the pack in very testing conditions and she went away to win pretty comfortably in a race that I think when we look back has featured some good horses who will go on to have impressive careers.

Gran Luna has an entry in the Goffs Bumper at Newbury on March 21st – we can’t wait to go back to one of favourite our racecourses. She is certainly one for the tracker and looks to have a bright future ahead.
